Eve Kruger
Eve Kruger is an undergraduate visual artist at the University of Colorado Boulder double majoring in Studio Arts with a focus in printmaking and Environmental Studies. Born in Santa Rosa, CA, Eve focuses on the moments and interactions that have greatly impacted the person she has become in order to better understand the person she wants to be in the future. She hopes to connect to the viewer over the transformative moments from her life that have helped her grow and become who she is today.
My work explores the most important moments and relationships from my life that have greatly impacted who I am today and who I will be in the future. As an adult, I have realized I can no longer remember much of my childhood and that for most of my life I only fulfilled the expectations of others. These fragmented memories and relationships have shaped the way I perceive myself and interact with others, so I continue to explore these ideas and work through these complex emotions and connections. I hope that through my artwork I can begin to accept the past, truly understand myself, and create the future I want for myself. Primarily utilizing printmaking methods, I attempt to connect to the viewer through shared experiences and emotions found in my personal life or the world around me.
I find myself drawn to the same themes and techniques in my work. I create incredibly detailed pieces that frequently feature myself and nature, especially plants, and the relationships species have to one another. For me, these motifs symbolize the intimate connections I have with others as well as the detailed representation of the complexity of my life.
Ultimately, my artwork is about my current and past interactions with the world around me. In my artistic practice, I explore how I can relate my emotional experiences to the viewer and create detailed pieces that can express the feelings behind my memories. I strive to relate to the viewer so that they can connect with me over the same transformative moments from my life and help me grow to become the person I know I can be.
